We had someone ask us about the link on the side “Database Search” why it is not up and working. We are doing some revisions to the a new search page that will offer more search results for you, but you are able to still search by counties and zip code.

I have, or Im pretty sure we all have asked ourselves this question before if we are in a business…..Why do customers complain? Well we are all customers remember, if you pull up to McDonald’s and get a cheeseburger plain with just the bun, meat and cheese, then go around to the drive through anxiously awaiting your food, pay for it then pull it out of the bag ready to gobble it up to find….. that it was fully loaded and not what you ordered…. Yeah how many times has this happened to you? We think how in the world can they get it wrong especially if it is right on the ticket??? I know I get quite frustrated with that many times, and it does not help you are on edge because youre so hungry.
This is the same thing with contractors and businesses…. if they dont do their job, then sure you are going to get complained about. But what about those businesses who go the extra mile and do the whole job with a smile on their face? This is one of the worst slaps in the face you can have to bend over backwards and have the customer complain and throw in your face that they are not going to pay you. We have had it happen numerous times with our businesses and it is so frustrating. You even have some that go to the extent to say that they are on the board of something and will complain about you to everyone they come in contact with that could seriously injure your reputation just because this customer didnt get their way. So you suck it up and just either let them pay what they want or not at all in some cases, either way losing money.
It’s great to take what the customer complains about and learn from it or use it to motivate your business but why not take a few minutes to see if they are already filed as a bad customer? That is why we built this site, so you can do just that. Don’t let them take advantage of what you work so hard for….

I was emailed the other day by an association saying that our site had major anti-trust issues. Let me clarify, it does not…. Some people will always think what they think and have one dimensional minds. This site, Business Beware, is for contractors of all types who are able to have a heads up of what they are about to jump into, or decide to forewarn their fellow contractors about a dead beat customer.
In the way our economy is today, we cannot afford to lose money in any way especially on jobs that we put alot of work into. Therefore, if you would like to know ahead of time of who you are dealing with, Business Beware is your outlet just for that.
Many customers did not hesitate to post you or your business on the Better Business Bureau, and now you have the chance to make things right and not let customers get away with the last word or get away with scamming you as a contractor.
We do check to make sure these contractors are licensed and not just some random person posting about someone. So if you think this site is not for you, then dont use it but I promise you, you will definitely start to wonder if you were posted about or if that customer you just did a job for was posted as well

How many times do you hear a customer complain? No person or business is perfect. I know as a customer you get frustrated and fed up with contractors that scam you and turn out to be not licensed but you should also realize that it gives us contractors a bad name too. We hate the fact that so many contractors are unlicensed as well because people tend to focus on the bad rather than the good. There are many good contractors out there that love their job and do a very good job with it and are licensed.
One big problem we face with our companies, is the competition of unlicensed contractors. So many companies are trying to make a living, especially with the economy we are in right now, to get the job done but at least make enough to cover your materials and payroll for the week. I can’t tell you how many times i have talked to customers saying they have another company they are getting bids from and if I can come down on my price to be competitive, of course we are competitive but you can only do so much if you dont make anything and can’t cover your materials. When I do a little investigation on who they went with, it usually turns out to be an unlicensed fence company that low-balled the price to get the job because they don’t have all the insurance and things to pay for with being a licensed company.
Yes, it does suck that there are unlicensed contractors and businesses out there because it not only affects the customers but other businesses as well, so remember that when you jump to the conclusion about contractors and how horrible they are, it’s not all of us.
